We are excited to announce the addition of AmeriCorps service members for the next academic year! This is made possible through a Federal AmeriCorps grant award provided through the Missouri Community Service Commission (MCSC) for the 2017-2018 school year. At The Biome, we consistently strive to identify new ways support learners and families. This grant award allows us to fulfill this mission and will support the hiring of multiple AmeriCorps Members who will be actively engaged in the classroom, supporting a variety of student needs.

We know that students are most successful when they have personal, attentive support. Our AmeriCorps members will be pivotal resources in providing additional daily academic and behavior support. Learners will have access to tutoring and small group instruction in math and literacy provided by the AmeriCorps members, who will be placed in every classroom, K-3. In addition, learners will participate in additional PATHS programming provided by AmeriCorps members, which helps support their development of positive social-emotional skills such as self-control, self-esteem, and problem-solving.

Throughout the summer, we will actively recruit  AmeriCorps staff members to join the Biome School community. We are looking for individuals who have the desire to work directly with learners and who have the energy and drive to build positive relationships with learners, teachers, and families.

The Biome AmeriCorps experience is a unique opportunity for anyone seeking to help make a measurable impact in the lives of students – an ideal position for recent graduates or those exploring gap-year opportunities. During their time, AmeriCorps members will be compensated with financial benefits, and as well as participate in important professional development experiences that will them help beyond their year of service.

Please share the opportunity with your networks and help us recruit these important new members of our community. For more information and to apply please visit our AmeriCorps Page.
